Sustainability

Unity Ridge Coffee is built on long-term relationships with the farmers who grow our coffee.

Sustainability at Unity Ridge begins at the farm and extends through every stage of our sourcing model.

Our approach balances environmental stewardship, economic resilience, and long-term supply stability. By maintaining a direct presence in Kenya—including our 10-acre coffee farm—we are able to test, refine, and share sustainable practices with partner farmers.

RESPONSIBLE FARMING PRACTICES

We promote farming methods that protect soil health, conserve water, and improve productivity over time.

Key practices include:

  • Soil management and organic matter restoration
  • Shade management and agroforestry integration
  • Responsible water use during processing
  • Continuous quality and yield improvement

Our demonstration farm allows farmers to see these practices in action before adopting them at scale.

WOMEN & YOUTH-LED STEWARDSHIP

Our farm is managed entirely by women and youth, placing environmental stewardship in the hands of the next generation of coffee leaders.

Through hands-on management and peer learning, sustainability becomes practical, measurable, and locally owned—rather than externally imposed.

ECONOMIC SUSTAINABILITY

Environmental sustainability must be matched with economic opportunity.

In addition to fair and transparent sourcing, women and youth managing our farm participate in a savings program with matched contributions, strengthening financial resilience and encouraging long-term investment in farming and community wellbeing.

A LONG-TERM VIEW

We view sustainability as a long-term commitment, not a checklist.

By aligning quality, farmer participation, and environmental responsibility, Unity Ridge works to ensure that the landscapes and communities producing our coffee remain viable for generations to come.
